Great Fun, Great Price

I'm not much for computer action games, or arcade games, but after playing bowling and golf on my son-in-law's Wii I was hooked. This is great fun and the price is right. I bought it and play more often than I thought I would. One thing that this has over other game machines is that your whole body gets involved, not just your fingers. The graphics may not be HD, but thay are very good and very clear with no noticable motion problems.

I recently purchased the Wii system- specifically to run Wii Fit. Both have proved more than satisfactory. Wii Fit has done a great job so far (I've only had it for about a month) in toning my legs and thighs. And the balance games are fun. Just wish there were more variations of the step aerobics and balance games. Love the boxing too! It's a good basic system- look forward to the upgrade. Wii Sports came with the Wii system, and I love the bowling!

Happy Birthday - NOT

Got a new Wii for my birthday today - inserted disc - "error, eject disc, power down, see manual". Rinse and repeat. All discs.

So within an hour of opening I have a trouble ticket and am sending the out-of-the-box product back for repair or replacement.

I was really looking forward to this because several people I know have a Wii and I've always thoroughly enjoyed playing the sports games.

Not a good start. I hope they replace, rather than repair it.

most over-rated console of all time

It seems a lot of non-gamers love this system, as well as everyone under 12 years old. I wish this system had more games catered to an adult gamer audience(this does not include old people and your girlfriend but actual gamers). Almost every decent game features a cartoon plummer with a mean butt stump or an elf kid(Zelda) or something like that. It's too bad because I would like to play Gears of War, Halo, Resistance Fall of Man, Metal Gear and more with a wii-mote, that might be cool. This is a good system overall if it were under a hundred bucks but it's way over-priced at $[...]. That's insane for something so technologically inferior to the competition.

fun and easy to pick up!!

This is a fun system. Not being a "video game person," I was a bit worried about being able to catch on quickly, but I found it very intuitive. You plug it in and you're more or less ready to go. The controls are very easy and Wii Sports is about as close to playing the real thing as you can get.

This is great for people of all ages. Kids love it. My parents even love it.

Lots of fun.

The Wii gaming system is different from any other gaming system. It starts, of course, with the user interface. The fact that you move your body to control the game differentiates it from all other gaming systems. But that's just the beginning. The Nintendo Wii is designed for a different kind of gamer. Games for the Wii are often more family-friendly and often they encourage group play. Games like Wii Sport, for example, let you play tennis by yourself or with a friend, and the let you compete to see who can score the highest in bowling. While other gaming systems concentrate on shoot `em ups and role-playing games for serious adult gamers, the Wii system is designed with everyone in mind, young and old.

The Nintendo Wii gaming system is very easy to set up. One small problem we encountered is the unit's tendency to overheat. I highly recommend buying a cooling unit to go with your Nintendo Wii. (We have yet to find a good charging station for the Wii-motes, as they are called. The Wii-motes eat up batteries very quickly, so this would be a great thing to have. The trouble is finding one.)

Of course, a gaming system is nothing without the right games to play on it. A few of our favorites include Wii Fit, Animal Crossing, Karaoke Revolution, Guitar Hero, Lego Indiana Jones, and Raving Rabbits TV Party. Everyone has his or her personal favorite, but we have yet to find anyone who doesn't want to play a game on our Wii: from the kids to the grandparents, and everyone in between.

Of course one of the most incomprehensible things about the Wii, is that the system which is better --for most people--than all the other gaming systems on the market, actually costs less. If you want a gaming system the entire family will enjoy, I recommend the Wii. I think you'll love it as much as we do.

Me myself am a "hardcore" gamer. The Gamecube lacked something..The Wii has it.

It's extremely fun. Nintendo fans will have a blast. Metroid,The Legend of Zelda,Pokemon,Super Mario Bros. There's also the virtual console. For a few hundred points,you can buy older video games,even Sega ones.

This is a great buy,the best console of this generation. It has what the others lack. Fun. Pure fun. It has tons of it.

I'll start off saying I bought the wii on launch day and so far am more than satisfied with it. Yes, the graphics are not next gen, they are slightly better than xbox but, with time will probably find a medium between xbox and 360 graphics. Then, again if you bought it, you know you get fun and innovation, not a supercomputer as nintendo is trying to prove is better. I couldn't agree more. I have Red Steel, Zelda, Madden, and Call of duty 3. So far I think they have pretty much nailed it. The only game I have a problem with is Red Steel, the aiming system is difficult. The controller is great for any FPS, the precision is excellent. I have never felt more immursed in an FPS. Same with Zelda, I feel as if I am actually Link at times swinging my sword. Not only is it great for hardcore gamers but, also for the whole family. My dad is now playing games for the 1st time since SNES. Wii sports is fun for everybody and so is a game like Madden. Nintendo WIFI isnt up yet but will be soon. Next years line up looks unbelievable. Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Smash Brothers Brawl with online play. Lastly, its only $250 and is so quiet you will never even know its there. If you want the most fun out of your games, go with the wii.

Unlike a lot of people that arewriting reviews i actrually own the consol.
This consol is NOT 600$ it is 250$. The reson it is so expensive is they are showing you a PACKAGE price. The package comes with a bunch of games and accesories. Now onto the review.
This system is a great system. The innovative control scheme is great but the graphics are just not up to par. Even though they are 1.5 times better that the PS2 they are not even in the same catagory as the PS3 or the 360. It is worth getting due to its low price but you will have trouble due to the fact it is sold out everywhere except ebay. Don't buy it on ebay because the prices are too high. Wait till stores get them and are not sold out in a matter of minutes.

My husband and I absolutely love the Wii!! It takes gaming to a whole new era. At least we don't just sit on the couch all day playing it. It requires phyisical activity. Our only problem was that we had to buy another $40 controller just to play another person without switching around remotes. My two sisters have come up to stay with us and both have had so much fun playing. At first my husband looked stupid playing but once I got into it, it was to much fun to let down. I reccommend this to anyone who wants a game to play but with a new twist. This is something I would let my daughter play because you can't sit down on the couch to play it.

Now, let me say up front that I have been a fan of Nintendo since the day the NES came out. However, there was a period where I was not happy with the Revolution (as it was then called), because of the fact its dead last in terms of power, and for fear that no one would make ports for it because of the oddball control scheme.

However, that said, I love my Wii, and will happily take it over the 360 and the PS3 any day of the week. As for the graphics, well, like I said, I'm about as old school of a gamer as you can get (my first system was an Atari, only the Coleco people have got me beat), and I can tell you from 20 years of video game play experience that graphics don't mean squat if you don't have great gameplay to back them up.

For the first time since the SNES, I truely think Nintendo stands a good chance of retaking the dominate position in the market. Only time will tell.

Awesome system

Strengths:

The controller is great the speaker is nice not as bad as people say. Good graphics i'm sure they can do better.

Weaknesses:

Not many as I can see besides the retailer system mess-up, but NOA makes up for that for responding to it quick.

I love this system as soon as it was shown as the revolution and then switched to wii which I like it's pretty nice in my opinion also the controller is nice I was finally able to test it at gamestop and later at my friends it's so much fun, right now best game to play with others i'd say Rayman: raving rabbids and Wii-sports.

The Legend of Zelda:Twilight Princess is great I only played it some at my friends house I didn't want to play alot of it till I get my own wii to enjoy it so I only have a small impression of it, but it's great the manual is nice, the boxart and the disc is really nice any zelda fan would love it only if the game case was gold that would made it even better.

Zelda:TP is pretty muchly a port of the GC version, but it's great none the less I reccamend you to buy this if you will be getting a wii anytime soon both GC and Wii version is pretty muchly the same, but the controller and some minor differences on the wii with widescreen etc. I give this game 6/6

this is a system that I would be willing pay more for not like some insane $600 for but I would pay extra. of coures the nintendo folks are dedicated to their fans and always start the price of their new systems like 300 or 200 or something the only problem is that i sit on a bed located directly in front of the T.V. followwed by a wall in my brothers room and the sensor isn't picking up the signal off the controller. good for the price

This is a great gaming system. It gets you off your butt and puts you right in the game. I love it!! You can play tennis, golf, boxing, and so many other things. The extra remote and nunchuck is a must have!. Once you see how fun it is you will want to play everyone that comes over. This is a great system for kids of all ages and adults that will always be young at heart! It was worth all 17 hours in the cold. Have fun & happy gaming!

Lets face it. Nintendo has been making games since long before the Xbox or Playstation. the graphics may not be the best of the three, but hey, i still think the N64's graphics are pretty good. besides, the only thing i can think of that really needs top-notch graphics are FPS, such as Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter, so you can snipe enemies without a scope from across the course. Sure, graphics are nice, but when you have games like Super Smash Bors. Brawl or The Ledgend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, who really cares? Mario/Link still looked good enough in their NES days,
AND their games were tons of fun. Who needs graphics if you have crappy games(GTA is the most horrifically violent and pointless game i have ever played)? oh yea, and did i mention that you can play pretty much any nintendo game? yea, i'm pretty sure you can download them onto the Wii. thats like getting 5 systems for $250. So would you rather spend an extra $350 for a playstation, or get a Wii AND Xbox360? seriously, $600 is ridiculous. so, in review, buy a Wii!!!
